Ride With Us – Natchez, MS to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital (700 Miles)
Raise $5,000 and come fight HLH one pedal stroke at a time with us. You’ll have a week to remember as we ride for everyone who has battled this awful immune disorder in the past, those that are currently fighting and for those that will unfortunately get the diagnosis in the future. For your fundraising efforts, we’ll provide the hotel rooms for the week. Fly into Jackson, MS on Friday, October 3rd where you’ll be picked up at the airport. All registered cyclists are responsible for the logistics and costs of their own personal travel and bike shipping to and from the start and end points of their ride week.
Every morning will start with a group video as we dedicate each day’s ride to a child currently in the hospital battling HLH. We’ll then ride off as a group and tackle the miles for the day. Our support vehicle will drive the luggage from town to town and will be stopping throughout the day for everyone to load up on food and fluids.
The ride will start in Natchez, MS and we’ll ride the 444 miles of the beautiful Natchez Trace Parkway, which is lined with forests, farmland, creeks and beautiful vistas all the way to Nashville, TN. The National Park Service has designated the entire parkway as a bike route. There are no stoplights or stop signs and no commercial vehicles allowed. There are no retail establishments on the Trace and access on and off is via on/off ramps, which means there is no need to worry about cross traffic.
From Nashville, we’ll navigate the remaining miles to the front door of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital where we’ll present a check to the HLH Center of Excellence. The 4th annual “HLH Boot Camp” is going on at the hospital that weekend where doctors from across the country will be coming in to learn from the HLH experts. On Friday evening, there is a dinner at the Cincinnati Zoo where we’ll be celebrating our amazing accomplishment! The “Boot Camp” starts on Saturday morning and families that have battled HLH are welcome to attend.
Come join us for a wonderful week!
